Barcelona Expat Fair 2022

On March 5th the Barcelona Expat Fair was held in the historical train station, Estación de Francia, conveniently located next to the Born and Barceloneta neighborhoods.

The expat fair focuses on selected service providers, including accounting and taxes, children and family services, employment and recruiting, health and medical, international education, and real estate. Relocation experts are also  available as they add tremendous value to the expat experience.

Victor Horcasitas from The American Society of Barcelona says “This initiative responds to the continued growth of international talent driving the Catalan ecosystem of entrepreneurship and a leading technology hub of Europe. And Barcelona is investing time and attention to attracting talent to ensure it solidifies itself as the perfect place to live and work.”

Indeed, over 460,000 people from 170 countries currently reside in the city, accounting for roughly 28% of its population. Barcelona’s international reputation of a progressive city combining treasured traditions and wonderful weather is well established.

The Expat Fair is  free to the public and it’s a great opportunity to meet with leading providers of critical services that expats need to become a Barcelonian.

Finding Affordable Health Insurance in Germany to Work, Study, and Live https://clubglobals.com/health-insurance-germany/ https://clubglobals.com/health-insurance-germany/#respond Fri, 20 Nov 2020 08:47:57 +0000 https://clubglobals.com/?p=25083 The post Finding Affordable Health Insurance in Germany to Work, Study, and Live appeared first on Club GLOBALS.

Finding Affordable Health Insurance in Germany to Work, Study, and Live

Germany boasts a highly praised and well rounded health insurance system that is essentially comprised of three different parts. There is the Public Health Insurance System (GKV), the Private (PKV) and the Expat Health Insurance System. To qualify for either of the three options, you have to meet certain requirements. These can be anything from your visa status,  your job situation, as well as the amount of money you earn.

Regardless, health insurance is absolutely mandatory for all residents of Germany.

Figuring out your best option is an important task! We’ve put together an article highlighting some of the best insurance options within Germany.

Public Health Insurance

If you are a regular employee earning under €62,550 per year, a student under the age of 30, or an EU citizen that is a freelancer/self-employed then we strongly recommend TK as your health insurance provider.

TK is regularly awarded as the No. 1 healthcare provider in Germany and it is clear why.

A quick, online sign-up process can get you insured within two days. All service and documentation is performed completely in English. And most importantly, it meets all the requirements for a Work Visa, EU Blue Card and the Student Visa.

Students benefit from a reduced price and can expect to pay roughly around €105 euros per month depending on their age. Employees can expect the standard 14.6% of their salary, with half paid by the employer.

Use our sign-up link and get insured today!

For those looking for an alternative, check out Barmers as an equally high-quality provider in Public Health Insurance.

Private Health Insurance

For employees earning a high salary and for freelancers failing to qualify for Public Health Insurance, Private Health Insurance is also a great option to consider.

Ottonova doubles as a private health insurance provider, meeting all the requirements for a Freenlance Visa and providing full support in English 24/7.

Feather’s also has a brokerage service where they play matchmaker with you and a trusted Private Health provider.

In both cases, the cost will be dependent on your overall risk profile in respect to your health. Factors such as how old you are or any existing health conditions.

Expat Health Insurance

Those just recently moved to Germany as a Job Seeker, a Working-Holidayer, Non-EU Citizens who are freelancers/self-employed, MiniJob employees, and German-Language school students do not qualify for the Public Health Insurance system. This leaves Expat Health Insurance as the best option.

Feather’s is an extremely affordable option that meets all visa requirements while providing a high standard of medical care. Everything is also done in English, making it the perfect choice! The monthly fee comes out to just about €70 a month.

Other up-to-standard options to consider are Ottonova and Foyers.

Choosing a suitable insurance provider in Germany is an important choice! It can be overwhelming at times, so feel free to contact us with any questions or consultation needed.

8 Things you should know about the Wohnsitz Anmeldung

Anmeldung

Moving to Berlin can be stressful when you don’t speak German and need to register your address with the city. Here you will find everything you need to know about the registration “Anmeldung” in Berlin.

Why

Does it apply to me?

If your situation is one of the following, you need to register with the district authorities:

  • Moving to another apartment in Berlin;
  • Moving from another city in Germany to Berlin for more than 6 months;
  • Moving from abroad to Berlin and your stay is longer than 3 months.

Should I register?

This registration is needed for most of the administrative tasks you have to complete such as opening a bank account, paying your taxes, etc.

Not registering your address is illegal and you can get a fine for it. This is not the most interesting thing you will do in Berlin. But it is mandatory and easy to do when you know how it works.

What

Do I need?

To avoid having to go back several times to the Bürgeramt office, come prepared with everything that is required. Here is a checklist of what you need:

❐ Proof of identity (passport, ID, visa if you need one) with a valid date;

❐ Rental agreement (a letter your landlord gives you to prove that you are a tenant in the apartment), or get the legal format here;

❐ Civil status certificate if this is the first time you register (certificate of marriage, birth certificate);

❐ Anmeldung Form (the most important document and most challenging to fill in when you don’t understand German). Get the help you need over there with AiRelo ? https://clubglobals.com/airelo/

Is the "Anmeldung Formular"?

This form is mandatory for your life here in Berlin. To help you fill it out, Club GLOBALS created AiRelo. Available in up to 10 languages, our Artificial Intelligence Relocation Assistant will ask you for which city you need to register, as well as personal details necessary for the form.
In just under ten minutes, you will receive a PDF version of the registration form delivered in German. All that is left for you to do is print out the form, and make your way to the Bürgeramt.

AiRelo is operational in Berlin, Munich and New York, and will soon be expanding to other international cities.

Where

To register?

In order to register you need to go to the Bürgeramt office. It is the equivalence of the city hall, but specific to every district part of Berlin.

It is mandatory to make an appointment beforehand. Be sure to have your passport or ID card, the agreement letter from your landlord and the Anmeldung form.

To make an appointment?

Making an appointment has become mandatory since the coronavirus pandemic. You can choose among one of the 40 Bürgeramts in Berlin, or choose one in your district, whichever is most convenient.

Here is the link to make an appointment (“Termin” in German).

Tip: If you don’t see any slot available which suits you, refresh the page. Most of the time, a new slot will  appear.

You can also call them by dialing the number 115 and directly make an appointment with them. Most tend to speak English.

What about the

German Licence Tax?

Even if you don’t have a television or a radio, the licence tax is mandatory. In German it is referred to as the Beitragsservice von ARD, ZDF und Deutschlandradio. The government considers that you can have access to the services, even through your smartphone or computer. You will have up to one week to pay those fees otherwise you might be fined.

The tax is €17.50 per month per household. The fee can be split between the occupants you share your apartment or house with. This licence fee can be paid on a monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, or annual basis.

Persönliche Identifikationsnummer, in other words, the personal identification number or Tax ID?

This number is unique and used for taxation purposes. You usually receive your tax ID a few weeks after your Anmeldung, after which you will need to provide the number to your employer when you first start working.
In Germany, employees are directly taxed from their salaries. You could be subject to paying taxes at the highest rate should you fail to provide the tax number to your employer,

8 Things you should know about the Anmeldung

Copy of AiRelo First Slide PPT 16-9 (2)

Moving to Berlin can be stressful when you don’t speak German and need to register your address with the city. Here you will find everything you need to know about the registration, so-called “Anmeldung” in Berlin.

Why

does it apply to me?

If your situation is one of the following, you need to register.

  • Moving to another apartment in Berlin
  • Going to Berlin from another city in Germany
  • Coming to Berlin from abroad

should I register?

This registration is needed for most of the administrative things you will have to do here, such as opening a bank account, paying your taxes etc.

Not registering your address is illegal and you can get a fine for it. Not the most noteworthy thing you will do in Berlin for sure but mandatory and easy to do when you know how it works.

What

do I need?

To avoid having to go back and forth to the city hall several times, come prepared with everything that you are required to bring. Here is a checklist of what you need:

❐ Proof of identity (passport, ID, visa if you need one) Note: check if they are still valid!

❐ Rental agreement (a sort of letter that your landlord gives you to prove that you are staying as a tenant in their apartment) The legal format can be found here.

❐ Civil status certificate if it is the first time you are registering (certificate of marriage, birth certificate)

❐ Anmeldung Form (most important document and hardest to complete when you don’t understand German) help over there ?

is the Anmeldung Formular?

This form will be mandatory for your life here in Berlin. To complete it, we created a chatbot, AiRelo, which asks you questions and is available in over 10 different languages, and delivers the form as a pdf in German. You just have to print it and bring it with you to the Burgeramt/city hall and that’s it!

Where

to register?

To register you need to go to the Bürgeramt which is the equivalent to the city hall and every district in Berlin will have one. You need to book an appointment to go there to avoid waiting time up to 3 hours or more. You can also decide to go without an appointment and take a ticket with a number and wait. Once your number is called you go to a room where they will ask you your proof of identity, confirmation of arrival by your landlord, and the Anmeldung form.

In the end, they will give you a paper that looks like the picture below, do not lose it it is important for your taxes, opening a bank account, your German health insurance (Expat, Public or Private), etc.

to take an appointment?

Booking an appointment is the best way to save time during the registration process. You can pick among one of the 40 Bürgeramt/city halls. Also selecting one in the district you live in is not mandatory so you can choose whichever one is the most convenient for you!

Here is the link to book an appointment “Termin” in German. Tips: If you don’t see any slots available that suits you, refresh the page a few times and most of the time a new slot will appear.

Working in Germany – Occupations in Demand Today https://clubglobals.com/working-in-germany/ Wed, 25 Oct 2017 10:13:29 +0000 https://clubglobals.com/?p=11358 The post Working in Germany – Occupations in Demand Today appeared first on Club GLOBALS.

Working in Germany – Occupations in Demand Today

Why work in Germany?

The labor market in Germany is highly attractive for many expats from all over the world due to its consistent growth and working conditions. Recently, the increasing demand for certain professions has led to a better inclusion of foreigners in society, thanks to easier administrative procedures in German cities. This article will provide further detail on the occupations currently in demand in Germany.

There are many advantages of living and working in Germany. First, the German economy is one of the three strongest economies worldwide and is still growing with its low unemployment rate (7%). Moreover, the strong social security system protecting the sick, disabled, unemployed or retired people is a great benefit that attracts expats from all over the world. Additionally, due to the increasing number of immigrants, the process of integration in German society has become much smoother and more comfortable.

However, the benefits of strong economy, good salaries, high standard of living and social benefits, a modern infrastructure and affordable, high-quality housing come with some challenges: learning the language and becoming comfortable in your new home.

The good news is that lately, the immigration law has become more permissive, especially for certain categories of workers. The reason for this policy change might lie in the high rate of aging which leads to a loss of around 250,000 workers yearly. It could also be due to a shortage of graduates in certain fields of study.

But let’s have a closer look at the sectors and professions that favor immigrants in the German labor market. The chances of getting a job and obtaining the working papers needed (e.g. visa, work permit, etc.) without much trouble are higher for people with vocational qualifications, doctors, innovative engineers and experts in technology, IT and science.

Doctors in demand

The German healthcare system is renowned for its dense hospitality network, professional medical practices and a generally high level of care. As a doctor in Germany, you benefit in several ways from this status. Doctors are not only highly appreciated by society, they are also well rewarded with an average salary for graduates being around €49,000 a year.

The need for doctors in Germany’s public sector is expected to increase in the coming years. The private sector is also in need of general practitioners. As for the immigration policies, you should know you are eligible and likely to obtain the medical license whether you are from the EU or not. Please check www.anerkennung-in-deutschland.de for more details.

Seeking Scientists and Engineers

Germany is often considered at the center of innovation due to its cutting-edge technological contributions in various fields such as automobile, X-ray, IT, chemical & pharmaceutical as well as biotech and nanotech sectors. The shortage of STEM graduates(science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) has lead to an increasingly high demand for scientists in this field.

Therefore the job prospects for graduates are excellent. The salaries vary between €35,000 and €40,000 and can reach up to €70,000 based on years of professional experience.

Be a Catering Caregiver

Finally, there has been a consistent increase in demand for caregivers and people with vocational training; These jobs also make access into the labor market much smoother.
